L’Espelette

The Pepper in the Spotlight

First, we recommend trying the chef’s terrine, homemade with Espelette pepper and honey for €8.90.

However, we primarily suggest trying the tapas, specialties from the region with Spanish inspiration. They offer a wide selection, ranging from classic calamari fritters or Spanish charcuterie boards to guindillas (green Basque peppers), cheddar-stuffed pepper fritters, or alcachofas con jamon (sautéed artichoke hearts with Bayonne ham).

The dishes are hearty and mostly meat-based. For example, you can find axoa (minced veal shoulder sautéed with Basque peppers), lomo piquillos a la plancha (grilled marinated pork fillets), or biarrot (grilled beef flank steak).

In terms of pricing, dishes start from the daily special at €13.90 and go up to a menu for €32 (starter + main courses + dessert).

Craving something sweet? There’s a tempting selection of homemade desserts: Basque cake, Gavotte millefeuille, or pear tarte tatin. However, the team highly recommends the enormous selection of homemade profiteroles with various flavors: caramel, chocolate banana, Bounty, mint, and chocolate… Something for everyone!

All of this is enjoyed in an original and folkloric setting, with a Basque red pepper theme.
